What's all this about?

At present I primarily work in ink and graphite, but I look forward to sharing more of my world through other media soon. If you would like to be updated on available works you can join my email list through the form below, and for commission enquiries you can reach me at art.raphaelite@gmail.com
"Man only plays when he is in the fullest sense of the word a human being, and he is only fully a human being when he plays"
Friedrich Schiller, 1794
I think I was about five when I was first handed a spiralbound sketchbook and a HB pencil. Over the next decade, I endeavoured to frustrate my teachers as much as possible by filling schoolbook margins with the visual narratives I daydreamed, whenever there was work to do.
Today, I am deeply influenced by my studies in philosophy to explore the richness of our world through visual art. For me, human acts of creativity are emergent, wild moments of divinity that can only be captured by putting pen to paper. Doing so is both release and actualisation; a synthesis of our physical and intellectual self through the process that Schiller simply calls Play.
That idea of Play has guided my thinking of art and life, urging a duality of thought and action which each open new facets for the other. Through my art I aim not just to share my perception of this beautiful life with you, but also to deepen my own appreciation for it.
